Guatemala SHB EP Fancy Bicafe - Grainpro

Guatemala

Description

The highlands of Huehuetenango are among Guatemala’s most celebrated coffee-growing areas. Situated at altitudes from 1,500 to 2,050 meters, the region benefits from cool mountain air tempered by warm, dry winds from Mexico’s Tehuantepec plains. This unique climate allows coffee to be cultivated at higher elevations without risk of frost, resulting in dense beans with bright acidity and layered complexity. The rugged terrain and diverse microclimates of Huehuetenango produce coffees that stand out for their balance, sweetness, and longevity in the cup. ASOPCE was founded in 2015 to bring together producers from the Huehuetenango and San Marcos regions. The cooperative’s mission is to strengthen member livelihoods by providing technical assistance, improving farm productivity, and encouraging environmentally responsible practices. ASOPCE also emphasizes social commitment and gender equity, ensuring that opportunities within the cooperative are inclusive and community-driven. This holistic approach reflects the cooperative’s dedication to both quality coffee production and long-term sustainability. This lot is graded as SHB (Strictly Hard Bean), denoting cultivation above 1,300 meters where cooler temperatures slow cherry maturation and result in dense, high-quality beans. It is prepared to EP (European Prep) standards, meaning it is carefully sorted for size and defects to guarantee consistency. Washed processing highlights the coffee’s clean, structured character and emphasizes its bright, nuanced flavor profile.
