Guatemala SHB EP Cafcom - Grainpro
Guatemala
Description
Guatemala is one of Central America’s most diverse and dynamic coffee origins, shaped by a landscape of towering volcanoes, fertile valleys, and rich, mineral-heavy soil. Cool mountain air and steady rainfall create the perfect conditions for slow, even cherry maturation, producing coffees prized for their balance and sweetness. Across regions like Huehuetenango, Antigua, and Chimaltenango, generations of smallholder farmers have refined traditional cultivation methods that bring out vibrant fruit tones and a smooth, chocolatey structure in the cup.
This lot was sourced through CAFECOM (Café de Comunidades de México y Centroamérica), a producer network dedicated to empowering smallholder farmers through education, quality initiatives, and improved market access. CAFECOM’s focus on sustainable agriculture and community development helps preserve Guatemala’s long coffee heritage while ensuring producers receive fair and transparent returns for their work. Their ongoing investment in quality and environmental stewardship results in consistent, traceable coffees that reflect both place and people.
This coffee is graded SHB EP (Strictly Hard Bean, European Preparation), indicating it was grown above 1,300 meters and meticulously hand-sorted to remove defects and ensure uniformity. High elevation and cool nights yield dense, high-quality beans that roast evenly and cup beautifully. Expect a profile layered with stone fruit, dark chocolate, and nectarine sweetness, a classic expression of Guatemala’s high-altitude terroir.
