Ethiopia Yirgacheffe GR2 Aricha Adorsi Grainpro
Ethiopia
Description
Yirgacheffe, located in southern Ethiopia, is one of the most celebrated coffee origins in the world. Sitting at 2,000
to 2,200 meters above sea level, the region’s high elevation, fertile soil, and cool climate provide ideal conditions
for producing distinctive specialty coffees. The combination of heirloom varietals, meticulous handpicking, and
traditional washing methods yields a clean, vibrant cup. Known for its bright acidity, tea-like florals, and citrus
sweetness, Yirgacheffe has become synonymous with clarity and complexity in Ethiopian coffee.
Adorno Washing Station is located in Ethiopia’s renowned Yirgacheffe region and is operated by Testi Coffee, a
respected exporter known for its strong focus on quality and traceability. The station works with nearby
smallholder farmers who cultivate coffee on small plots in the surrounding highlands and deliver freshly
harvested cherries during the harvest season. At Adorno, cherries are carefully sorted, pulped, and washed before
being dried on raised beds, a process that helps preserve the region’s characteristic floral aromatics, bright citrus
notes, and clean cup profile that have made Yirgacheffe coffees globally recognized.
In Ethiopia, grades are tied to both processing method and cup quality: Grades 1 and 2 are for washed coffees,
with Grade1 having the highest level of sorting and the fewest defects, often showing exceptional clarity and
complexity. Grades 3 and 4 are for natural coffees, which tend to have more fruit-forward profiles and slightly
higher allowable defect counts. In Ethiopia, grading reflects both processing method and cup quality. Grades 1
and 2 are reserved for washed coffees, with Grade 2 offering excellent clarity, low defect count, and strong
overall structure. This lot is a Grade 2 washed coffee, delivering a clean, well-balanced profile with layered notes
of citrus, soft florals, and tea-like sweetness, making it a versatile option for both single origin programs and
brightening blends
