Colombia Excelso EP Fancy Coocentral - Grainpro
Colombia
Description
Huila, located in southwestern Colombia, is one of the country’s most celebrated coffee-growing regions. Nestled between the Central and Eastern Andes, it benefits from fertile volcanic soil, abundant water sources, and stable year-round temperatures. With altitudes ranging from 1,200 to 1,900 meters above sea level, Huila’s coffee farms enjoy a slow cherry maturation process, developing beans with bright acidity, complex fruit notes, and a creamy body. The region’s microclimates, combined with traditional farming practices, have helped establish Huila as a benchmark origin for high-quality Colombian coffee.
This lot is produced by CooCentral (Cooperativa Central de Caficultores del Huila), a cooperative dedicated to supporting small-scale coffee farmers throughout the region. Formerly known as Cooperativa Central de Caficultores del Huila, CooCentral provides its members with technical assistance, financial services, and market access, ensuring that farmers can improve both quality and yield. The cooperative prioritizes sustainability and eco-friendly practices, helping protect the region’s biodiversity while strengthening community well-being. Through its work, CooCentral has played a key role in elevating Huila’s reputation for producing some of the finest coffees in Colombia.
This lot is graded as Excelso, a Colombian export grade based on bean size (15/16), slightly smaller than Supremo (17/18). It also meets EP (European Preparation) standards, meaning the beans are carefully sorted and cleaned to remove defects. As an Excelso Fancy lot, it represents a higher-quality selection within the Excelso grade, offering stricter sorting, fewer defects, and improved cup clarity.
