Colombia Organic Excelso EP Fancy Tolima - Mastercol - Grainpro
Colombia
Description
Tolima is a standout coffee region tucked between Colombia’s Central and Eastern mountain ranges. Its high altitudes, nutrient-rich volcanic soils, and consistent rainfall create ideal conditions for slow cherry maturation, producing coffees that are bright, complex, and full of character. Once overlooked due to its remote location, Tolima is now celebrated for producing some of Colombia’s most distinctive specialty coffees — known for juicy acidity, notes of stone fruit, and a rich, chocolatey backbone.
This Fairtrade Organic lot is sourced through Mastercol, a trusted exporter dedicated to empowering smallholder producers and promoting environmentally responsible practices. Farmers typically cultivate 2–5 hectare plots using organic methods that enhance soil fertility, protect biodiversity, and reduce chemical dependency. Through Fairtrade premiums and Mastercol’s ongoing technical support, these producers are able to reinvest in their farms, strengthen community resilience, and maintain sustainable livelihoods.
This lot is graded Excelso EP Fancy:
Excelso refers to the bean size (screen 15+), a hallmark of Colombia’s larger, denser beans.
EP (European Preparation) indicates meticulous sorting for a clean, uniform cup.
Fancy designates exceptional screen uniformity and low defect count, placing it above standard Excelso grades.
Together, these elements yield a coffee that’s clean, juicy, and vibrant; a perfect reflection of Tolima’s terroir and the values of its farming communities.
