Brazil 14/16 Sul de Minas SSFC BRASCOF

Brazil

Description

Sul de Minas, located in the southern portion of Minas Gerais, is widely recognized for producing coffees with a reliable, approachable cup profile. Its volcanic soils, mild climate, and gently sloping terrain create ideal conditions for coffee cultivation. The region’s microclimates support slow cherry maturation, which develops a balanced flavor with soft acidity, nutty undertones, and a naturally sweet finish. These conditions have made Sul de Minas a key region in Brazil’s coffee identity.

This lot is sourced through Brascof, a specialty coffee exporter based in Minas Gerais and owned by our parent company, Hamburg Coffee Company (HACOFOC). Being part of Hamburg provides Brascof with a strong global network, financial stability, and deep expertise in the coffee trade, while allowing it to operate with a focused, local approach in Brazil. Brascof works closely with smallholder farms and select regional producers, curating coffees with consistent quality and regional character. By focusing on traceability, flexible logistics, and direct partnerships, Brascof helps bring the unique coffees of Sul de Minas to international markets while providing reliable market access for smaller producers.

The coffee is classified as SSFC (Strictly Soft Fine Cup), a grade for higher-altitude Brazilian coffees known for their softer, cleaner cup profile. The 14/16 screen size reflects medium, uniform beans that roast evenly and ensure consistency. Together, these factors produce a coffee that showcases classic Sul de Minas characteristics—sweetness, smooth body, nutty flavors, and mild acidity.
